‘Cocaine party’ allegations run rampant after Macron video published with German and UK leaders

A video of French President Emmanuel Macron hiding a white object while traveling on a train with British and German leaders for talks in Ukraine has gone viral. The footage has sparked much speculation, with some suggesting the object was cocaine, while others contend the object is just a crumpled tissue.

Several media outlets have reported on the incident

The viral video has spread across shows Macron traveling on a train with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During the meeting, Macron sweeps the white object off the table with his right hand and then picks it up with his left hand under the table.

The situation apparently became extremely awkward when journalists suddenly entered the booth of the leaders of the “coalition of the willing.” Nervousness was visible among the European leaders when the media staff unexpectedly entered the room. The recordings clearly show that Macron immediately hid a small white object and Merz grabbed a small spoon and tucked it away. Social media users speculated it was a “snuff spoon,” typically used to grab a bump of cocaine and snort it.

However, others have pointed out that the video proves nothing, and that the small white object is nothing more than a tissue.

Marija Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, reacted to the recordings. As she put it: “The fate of Europe is decided by cocaine addicts.”

The scandal over the video has erupted to the point that the French leader Paris reacted to the events, writing: “When European unity becomes uncomfortable, disinformation goes so far as to present a simple fabric as a drug. This disinformation is spread by France’s enemies, both abroad and at home. We must remain vigilant against manipulation.”
