The US Census lists North Dakota as 3.8 Black, yet all data shows that Blacks commit a wildly disproportionate amount of homicides in the state. American Indians also commit excessive homicides in the state, but nowhere near the rate that Blacks do.
North Dakota is now listed as 3.8% Black and 5.3% American Indian. From 2019-2023. 29.5% of all known homicide suspects submitted to the FBI in North Dakota were Black. Many were African “refugees.” The rest were 10.8% American Indian, 2.0% Asian, and 57.4% White, Latino, or Other.
This means that Blacks are 10.6 times more likely to be homicide suspects than all other races in the state combined. American Indians are 2.2 times more likely to be homicide suspects than all other races in the state combined. When Blacks are removed from the equations, American Indians are 3.1 times more likely to be a homicide suspect than Whites, Latinos, Asians, and Others combined. Blacks are 3.8 times more likely to be a homicide suspect than American Indians.
If American Indians are removed from the equation, Blacks are 11.8 times more likely to be a homicide suspect than Whites, Latinos, Asians, and Others combined.
