Iranian serial rapist jailed for six years in Sweden for multiple sexual assaults, but won’t be deported

A serial migrant rapist in Sweden has been sentenced to six years in prison for multiple sexual assaults, but will not face deportation at the end of his incarceration, despite the severity of his crimes.

Soheil Almasy, 31, was jailed by the Solna District Court on four counts of rape, two counts of assault, unlawful coercion, and molestation. He must also pay more than 1 million Swedish krona (€91,000) in compensation to his victims.

It is the fourth time Iranian-born Almasy has been convicted of serious sexual offenses.

As reported by Expressen, Almasy’s victims met him through TikTok, where he recruited them to work as hosts. According to their testimony, Almasy behaved aggressively and manipulatively, often justifying violence as part of a supposed test for future work or making direct threats.

“In several cases, he is said to have stated that the violence or the assault has been a test, something they must be able to cope with for future assignments and/or made direct threats,” the Solna District Court wrote in its judgment.

Almasy denied all allegations. However, the court found his defense inconsistent. “It is true that Soheil Almasy gave long and detailed accounts during the hearing. However, they have often been difficult to follow and they have contained both contradictions and elements that are difficult to explain,” the ruling stated.

He was acquitted on one charge of rape but convicted on the rest.

Almasy’s criminal history is extensive. His first convictions date back to 2013 when he was 19. At that time, his victims were underage girls. One 14-year-old was threatened with gang rape, while a 12-year-old was encouraged to prostitute herself. He told the younger girl: “If you go against this, you can get raped with 5 cocks and watch your parents get murdered.”

He previously worked as a nurse at Sankt Göran’s Hospital in Stockholm, and Omni reports that during his time as a psychiatric nurse, he also sexually harassed and threatened a female patient.

In 2016, he received probation with a treatment plan after being convicted of unlawful threats on nine occasions, attempted exploitation of children for sexual posing, sexual molestation on eight occasions, and attempted procuring for sexual exploitation on nine occasions.

In 2018, Almasy was sentenced again, this time to two and a half years in prison for rape, five counts of sexual molestation, assault in court, and impersonating a public official.

His most recent prior conviction came in 2021 when he was sentenced to three months in prison for attempted exploitation of children for sexual posing and contacting a child to arrange a meeting for sexual purposes.

The case has provoked outrage from politicians across the Swedish political spectrum.

“It is obvious that society has failed to protect Swedish girls and women from this monster,” said Richard Jomshof of the Sweden Democrats, formerly chairman of the Riksdag’s Justice Committee. “These kinds of people have no business being in Sweden.”

Social Democrat legal policy spokesperson Teresa Carvalho added: “A person like this should not be on the loose on our streets.”

Almasy’s lawyer, Olof Bexell, has maintained his client’s innocence, saying: “At the moment, I can only say that our position is that he has not committed any crime.”

Despite his extensive criminal history, Soheil Almasy cannot be deported because he was granted Swedish citizenship in 2010.

While those with dual nationality can have their Swedish citizenship revoked in exceptional circumstances, there is no indication that Almasy will be stripped of his right to reside in Sweden forever.
