145 French women targeted with needle attacks during Festival of Music 2025 across France

At least 145 women across France were targeted in syringe attacks at the Festival of Music 2025 (Fête de la Musique), which offers free concerts in cities across the country.

Before the festival, there were reportedly calls on social media to jab women with syringes during the festivities. In many such attacks, women are injected with the date rape drug GHB, but attackers also use other substances. However, French authorities have not yet indicated what, if any substances, were involved in these specific attacks.

Many of the women in these recent attacks reported feeling unwell and experiencing other symptoms. In total, 12 suspects were arrested across France.

Although this list is not exhaustive, Remix News has compiled information on some of the cities that were most affected by the attacks.

Chambéry

In the French city of Chambéry, the 2025 edition of the Fête de la Musique, known as the Festival of Music, saw several women attacked with syringes, notably in front of the electro stage at Carré Curial. A suspect was arrested and handed over to the police by security guards, according to Dauphiné Libéré.

“We had up to five people come forward, all young girls, for injections. Some went to the emergency room, others didn’t, in particular to carry out toxicological analyses,” said the national police in Chambéry. “No victim apparently felt any physical effects, loss of consciousness, or tingling, following the injections.”

The first attacks allegedly took place near the Rue du Théâtre before moving into the Carré Curial. A number of girls were injected near the crowd near the “Podium Electro Dance” stage from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

One woman, who had photographed her attacker, confronted him during the event. She told Dauphiné Libéré: “We were filming in the pit and I happened to stumble upon him. I showed him the photo and told him it was him, and he denied it. Then he tried to punch me, which I dodged, before I swung at him,” said Sonia Meghouche. Her friend rushed to restrain the man. “He punched a security guard and kicked another, and he was struggling. He was saying to me in Arabic, ‘Let me go,’ but that was out of the question. He showed me a card and said, ‘I’m a doctor,’ but that wasn’t the point.”

Paris

In Paris, 24 people—including 23 women and a 15-year-old girl—have filed complaints with the police after they were illegally injected with syringes in various neighborhoods of Paris duiring the Music Festival 2025. Among the neighborhoods where the incidents took place were Asnières (Hauts-de-Seine) and Brunoy (Essonne).

A 36-year-old man with autism was arrested in Paris on suspicion of also jabbing a woman, according to Le Parisien.

Montpellier

A young woman said she was the victim of a brutal syringe attack during the Fête de la Musique in Montpellier on Saturday, June 21, in the Comédie district.

A 28-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested, with police finding an empty syringe in his possession. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

The suspect has a deportation order (OQTF), according to French news outlet Midi Libre.

Metz

According to Le Républicain Lorrain, around 10 young girls, most of whom are minors, were victims of syringe pricks in the city center of Metz during the Fête de la Musique. Large crowds gathered during the festival, numbering approximately 50,000 people.

The girls were treated by emergency technicians and then taken to the hospital for tests. Mayor François Grosdidier, who was present at the scene, confirmed the arrest of one individual.

During the evening, nine women approached first-aid tents and explained that they had felt a sharp pain characteristic of a needle jab. However, no woman suffered from any cognitive issues, indicating that GHB was likely not used.

Grenoble

There were also a number of victims in Grenoble, with some transported to Grenoble Alpes University Hospital to undergo medical tests. Toxicology reports were also ordered.

Reports indicate that around 8:00 p.m., a young woman claimed to have been the victim of an injection attack while she was at Place du Docteur-Léon-Martin. The suspect’s description was circulated on social media.

Several people then reported seeing one or more men who could match the description given by the young woman. However, no suspects were arrested by the police, according to news outlet Dauphiné Libéré.

In total, over 370 suspects were detained across France during the Music Festival 2025, with at least six stabbings reported in Paris. Brawls and widespread violence took place, including battles with the police. Approximately 50 vehicle arsons also occurred.
