A video of an American male beating a Turkish app-sharing Bolt driver on the streets of Warsaw has gone viral, leaving many Polish politicians lamenting what they say is a growing influx of migrants and related crime issues.
In the footage, a Black male from the United States is seen knocking the Turkish driver to the ground outside the Warsaw Central Station and then beating him unconscious.
The Polish police have responded to the incident, writing:
“The surveillance footage that recorded the incident has been secured. The event took place on the evening of June 21 this year. Both men are foreigners,” the Warsaw police wrote.
In a follow-up post, the police provided more details, stating that “based on the information currently obtained, it appears that the Turkish citizen, who was a driver for an app-based transport service, was the first to attack the other man, but ultimately, he was struck and knocked to the ground by the U.S. citizen.”
Both men did not want to file a complaint.
A number of Polish politicians responded to the incident on X, according to Polish news portal wPolityce.
“But Warsaw has become culturally rich thanks to Rafał (Trzaskowski). It’s clear the mayor favors Soros over Orbán. It’s evident in the streets. It’s getting safer,” wrote Law and Justice (PiS) MP Dariusz Matecki sarcastically on X.
The claim that the Warsaw mayor favors Soros over Orbán is a clear reference to Trzaskowski’s liberal leanings, which prioritize open borders and a weak response to crime. At the same time, conservatives consider Orbán to be strict on border security and immigration, as well as tough on crime.
“Warsaw. Here you can feel like you’re in Europe. And even an engineer will always lend a helping hand, especially when you need cultural enrichment,” wrote Jan Molski on X.
