Police are looking for a sex predator of Indian appearance who attacked a woman during her morning walk along a Melbourne beach before fleeing in a white Toyota Camry.
The woman was walking along the Middle Park foreshore at about 5.20am on Sunday when the man ran across the road, grabbed her from behind, kissed her, and threw her to the ground, breaking her ankle.
The woman screamed “get off me”, and Good Samarian Amanda Cohen who saw the attack unfold and thought it was a prank before running to help, then yelled “we’ve seen you” and the man fled in the sedan, Nine News reported.
The attacker is described as being of Indian subcontinental appearance, 187cm tall, wearing a light orange top and dark pants, and aged in his 20s or 30s.
The woman is still in hospital after having surgery on her ankle, which was shattered during the attack, and has said she thought she would be safe walking along the cycle path.
Ms Cohen said the woman was “unbelievably brave, and quite angry”.
“Her reaction was to say, ‘a complete violation of my rights’,” she said.
