An aboriginal rapist is on the run more than a year after a horrific attack on a female stranger in her home in the remote town of Halls Creek in Western Australia.
Western Australia Police released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their investigation into the sexual assault, which took place on February 21 last year in the crime-ravaged town 2,700km north of Perth in the Kimberley region.
The woman was asleep in her home when a man broke in at about 1am, sexually assaulted her and fled on foot, police said.
“The offender is described as being of slim build, with a dark complexion. He was wearing dark pants, a baggy t-shirt, and no shoes,” they said on Monday.
Specialist detectives from the sexual assault squad visited the town on Monday as part of the investigation.
Halls Creek, had a population of 1,605 and was 70.6% indigenous, 17.5% non-indigenous and 11.9% not stated at the time of the 2021 Census.
