Zohran Mamdani will almost certainly be the next mayor of New York City, carried to victory by the large foreign born population. In many ways, New York has ceased to be an American city. Yet conservatives who think that this will be a cautionary example for the rest of the country are fooling themselves. Instead, it will simply accelerate the political polarization that is already underway.
