The Chaos ransomware group claims to have breached Veplastic (VEPLASTIC S.r.l.), a prominent Italian manufacturer and trader of high-quality plastic compounds. Based in Italy and serving markets across Europe, the company specializes in the production of polyolefin-based compounds and regenerated plastic resins used in various industrial sectors, including automotive and construction.
The threat actors recently listed the company on their dark web leak site, suggesting that negotiations may have stalled or that the group has moved directly to the extortion phase.
According to the actor, the allegedly compromised data includes a total volume of 150 GB. While the group has not provided a granular file list for the entire archive, the typical categories of information exposed in such manufacturing sector breaches include:
