Students upset as high school puts up anti-Australian posters: ‘Evil to be White’

Students have expressed concerns about left-wing bias at their high school in South Australia after anti-Australian posters were put up on campus.

The posters appeared at John Pirie Secondary School in Port Pirie last month and read “Australia Day on January 26 is not a date to celebrate”. They also contain a QR code link directing students to sign an online petition calling for the national day to be abolished.

One upset student told Noticer News he thought public schools were supposed to be politically neutral, but that the posters were an example of “ideological bias”.

“It is difficult to believe that a petition advocating the opposite position, such as retaining January 26 as Australia Day, would be permitted,” he said.

He said the posters and the history curriculum made some students believe it is “evil to be White”.

“White Australians are mainly portrayed through negative historical outcomes,” he said,

“I am concerned about the broader impact such messaging can have on students.”

Flags for far-left teachers unions were seen at anti-Australian “invasion day” rallies in major cities on Australia Day, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was criticised on Friday for comments he made about politics in public schools in a speech to the Australian Education Union.

“I always love going into public schools as well because with the rise in some of the far-right ideological positions in recent times, whether it’s a early learning centre or into a primary school, kids don’t see race, religion, gender, anything else, they just see other kids. Hatred and division is something that’s learned,” he said.

NSW Libertarian MP John Ruddick responded by saying: “When Albo thinks of school kids, he’s got one thing on his mind … mean-spirited partisan politics.”

“This might just be the best advertisement for home schooling I’ve ever seen,” read another popular response.

John Pirie Secondary School was contacted for comment.
