The mother of a seven-month-old baby was left shocked after being asked for her infant son’s “gender pronouns” by a clinic in Perth.
On arrival at the paediatric health centre the mother was required to fill out an online form, which included 13 options for “genders” and “pronouns”.
For genders, she had to choose from agender, androgyne, gender fluid, man, nonbinary, transgender and woman, according to screenshots of the form supplied to Noticer News.
For pronouns, the options were “e/em/eir/eirs/emself”, “he/him/his/his/himself”, “she/her/her/hers/herself”, “they/them/their/theirs/themselves”, “xe/xem/xyr/xemself”, “ze/hir/hir/hir/hirself”.
The centre says on its website that it also runs a Gender Diversity Clinic “to improve the mental health and quality of life of trans and gender diverse children, adolescents, and young adults through carefully considered, individualised care”.
The gender clinic offers psychological therapy, occupational therapy and/or physiotherapy, and says all staff are “LGBTIQA+ affirmative” but says it does not prescribe medication or provide so-called gender-affirming care.
