Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He was turned into authorities by his own father.

- Robinson briefly attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021 on an academic scholarship but is not and was not a student at Utah Valley University, the site of the shooting.

- Robinson’s family includes his mother, Amber Jones Robinson, and two brothers; the family is from Cedar City, Utah, approximately three hours from the shooting location.
- His father is a minister and former police officer; family members are registered Republicans.
- A family member reported that Robinson had become more political in recent years and expressed opposition to Charlie Kirk’s conservative viewpoints during a family dinner, speaking negatively about him.
- Robinson’s voter registration as of July 13, 2021, lists no declared political party; he has no prior criminal convictions.
- Evidence linking him to the shooting includes Discord messages to his roommate about retrieving and hiding a rifle wrapped in a towel, using a unique scope, and engraving bullets; unfired casings had inscriptions with anti-fascist symbolism, online slang, video game references, and messages like “Hey fascists! Catch!”.
- Surveillance video shows the suspect, matching Robinson’s description as a young thin white man, wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt with an American flag and eagle, black sunglasses, Adidas hat, jeans, and Converse sneakers, arriving in a gray Dodge Challenger and fleeing the scene.
- Robinson was identified after his father recognized him from released images and alerted authorities via a family friend and youth pastor; he initially refused to surrender but later turned himself in on September 12, 2025, in Washington County after a 33-hour manhunt.
- He faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice, all felonies; he is held without bail at Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, Utah, with authorities pursuing the death penalty and stating he acted alone.
Tyler Robinson wrote many things on shell casings. One of them was arrow symbols: up arrow, right arrow, and three down arrow symbols (these were not shown, just verbally described). He has a mech keyboard, headphones, discord, and seems like a gamer. A newly released game called “Helldivers 2” has a killstreak that is called in using that code, the eagle 500kg bomb, the biggest in the game.
Suspect Tyler Robinson allegedly wrote some Antifa phrases on fire casings: “Hey fascist!” and “oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.”
