Cops are leaving the woke Victoria Police force for Queensland, leaving more than 1,000 vacancies while new data shows crime has risen again to record-high levels.
Queensland Police data shows that a recruiting blitz launched late last year including a $20,000 relocation bonus had resulted in 80 officers from Victoria signing up.
There were 1,053 Victoria Police vacancies as of July 31, the Herald Sun reported, despite entrance standards being drastically reduced in March, while in April it was revealed that another 800 officers were off on sick leave with staffing levels at 50% at some stations.
Victoria Crime Statistics Agency data released on Thursday showed a 15.7% increase in criminal offences in the year to June 2025, with a 13.8% increase in the overall crime rate to the highest level on record – 8,998.9 offences per 100,000 people.
Melbourne has been plagued by worsening African gang violence and home invasions in recent years, driving a 21.7% increase in aggravated home burglaries and a 42.1% increase in motor vehicle theft.
Alleged offender incidents with an “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status” also increased 31.7%.
Those aged 10 to 17 were 12.8% of all offenders processed, but responsible for 62.2% of robberies, 47.7% of aggravated burglaries and 26.4% of car theft, while police said 1,128 offenders were arrested a combined 7,118 times.
“There were 149 less child offenders in the reporting period, indicating that repeat offenders are driving the arrest numbers,” police said.
Seven teenagers – three African adults and four minors – have been charged over the horrific alleged murders of a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old in Cobblebank, Melbourne.

Regional Operations Deputy Commissioner Bob Hill said on Thursday he had never seen so much violence from young people during his 40 years on the force, and said the recent alleged machete murders of two Sudanese boys, allegedly by other African teens, were unprecedented.
“[That’s] certainly something that wasn’t evident in my early policing career,” he said.
“Some of the people were arrested for these offences, these serious assaults … the [alleged] homicides — some of those people that had no prior history. This escalation goes from 0 to 100, some of these people.”
Despite the rising crime rates and staffing shortages, Victoria Police has continued to expand manpower on far-left causes, celebrating “Trans Day of Visibility”, taking part in multicultural festivals and homosexual parades, cracking down on peaceful nationalist activists, and giving immigrants free driving lessons.
State Budget papers in May revealed that only 55% of Victorians have confidence in the police, 52% are satisfied with policing services, and 51% feel safe walking locally at night.
The satisfaction and integrity ratings are far below the departmental targets of 80% and 82%, down from 55.5% and 61.9% a year earlier, and the results mirror an internal poll from June last year which found public confidence and satisfaction in police had fallen to 58%, the lowest levels since records began.
After last year’s poll results former commissioner Kel Glare said “unreasonable, violent and indefensible” police actions during Victoria’s human rights-violating Covid lockdowns had battered public faith in the force.
In January it was revealed that 683 Victoria Police officers have been investigated for sexual and domestic violence over the past five years, including 185 for sexual assault or child sex offences.
