Nationalists on the March in Britain

It was my honor and pleasure to speak last weekend at the annual meeting of Britain’s main nationalist group, Patriotic Alternative (PA). It was a wonderful, well-attended event with first-rate speakers, and it ran like a Swiss watch.

It had to. Guests knew only the general location of the meeting and were then shepherded through no less than two redirection points to make sure opponents never found out where we were. If a mole slipped through all this and discovered where we were, he could not have alerted lefties in time to organize a demonstration. There was not the slightest disturbance, so my guess is that opponents never learned our location.

The last time I spoke to a good-sized British group, it was a BNP-related meeting. perhaps 10 years ago. I was pleased to find that in the meantime, British nationalism is changing, just as it is everywhere: This was a sharply dressed audience, with children given a separate playroom to keep them entertained during the talks. The mood was professional and upbeat, buoyed by the “raise the colors” movement, and the massive Unite the Kingdom marches from last month.

The conference was opened by PA member Aaron Spreadbury, who was master of ceremonies. He noted the spread of nationalist ideas into the mainstream, adding, “We may not be winning, but we have won key victories. . . . There is an unprecedented upswelling of nationalist sentiment, and adversity brings out the best in our people.” “The future is bright,” he said. “The future is nationalism.”

Laura Towler is deputy leader of Patriotic Alternative. In a clever literary analogy, she described what Dante would have prescribed for those who oppose us. The neutral, indifferent, or indecisive are not quite in Hell but in its vestibule called the Ante-Inferno. They must eternally chase a blank banner while wasps and hornets sting them as punishment for refusing to take a stand for right or wrong.

Outright traitors are in the ninth and lowest circle of hell, frozen in a lake of ice. When they weep in remorse, their tears freeze, sealing their eyes and forming a crust over their faces. They cannot even express their grief, and their own tears torment them. Just above them in the eighth circle of Hell are corrupt politicians, immersed forever in boiling pitch.

Laura Towler

Mrs. Towler suspects that many of our contemporaries qualify for retribution. She noted that after once famously admitting that Great Britain was becoming “a nation of strangers,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer now insists that “Britain was built for all.” He presides over a nation with more arrests per capita for social-media postings than any other country in the world. Mrs. Towler also laughed at those who labor to secure a homeland for the Palestinian people but give no thought to a homeland for the British people. Many even insist there is no such people. How strange, she said, that people who accuse us of “hate” seem so consumed with it themselves.

“One of the leftist icons,” she added, “was Rosa Parks, who was asked to change her seat on public transport.” “Now, look what happens to us on public transport,” she added, referring Iryna Zarutska, who was stabbed to death on a North Carolina tram. She predicted great days ahead for nationalists: “Women changing course is always a sign of a social shift.”

The next speaker was author and political commentator Niall McCrae, whose somewhat surprising subject was “Smuggling: How Communities Defied Tyrannical Governments.” Dr. McCrae is from Sussex, just across the channel from France, where smuggling began as early as the 13th century. Local people thought it was outrageous to tax imported goods and saw themselves as champions of free trade. As Sussexmen put it, “We wunt be druv.” (We won’t be driven.) Boats would set out for France with British cargoes, exchange them for continental goods, and return at night. Signal lights indicated whether excise men were on the prowl, giving rise to the expression “the coast is clear.”

Niall McCrae

Dr. McCrae read lines from Kipling’s poem “A Smuggler’s Song,” addressed to a young Sussex lady.

If you wake at midnight, and hear a horse’s feet,
Don’t go drawing back the blind, or looking in the street.
Them that ask no questions isn’t told a lie.
Watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by!

Five and twenty ponies,
Trotting through the dark —
Brandy for the Parson, ’baccy for the Clerk;
Laces for a lady; letters for a spy,
Watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by!

If you do as you’ve been told, ’likely there’s a chance,
You’ll be given a dainty doll, all the way from France,
With a cap of Valenciennes, and a velvet hood —
A present from the Gentlemen, along o’ being good!

His Majesty’s coast guard mostly ended smuggling in the 1800s, but Dr. McCrae said that the biggest smuggler today is the British government itself, which admits tens of thousands of illegal boat people. He called for a “heritage rebellion,” like the Sussex rebellion against tyrannical taxation.

Daniel Eriksson is the chairman of Free Sweden, founded in 2017, and committed to building a parallel society for Swedes. He warned that liberal democracy will not save us: “It distracts us while we are robbed of our homelands.” “Elections are a stage play that creates the illusion of choice,” he said. “What difference did your last vote make?” He called the ballot box ritual “the greatest bread and circuses of them all. The script is always globalism and anti-whitism.”

Mr. Eriksson said that even the Sweden Democrat Party — invariably tarred as “extreme right” and “racist” — has been “domesticated:” “It spends more time apologizing for its past than planning for the future.” Hoping for an electoral majority is a pipe dream because the state always neuters political threats. Elections, he insisted, will not stop dispossession, so we must assume we will become a minority.

Dan Eriksson

He pointed out that whites will still be the largest minority and have much influence, but we must think as other minorities do: “They never depended on the state. They banded together to promote their own interests. They never trusted the government; they trusted each other. . . . If others can build parallel societies within our societies, so can we.”

Mr. Eriksson believes that “if we keep thinking like a majority, we will lose. . . . Being a minority will free us of illusions,” because we will finally understand that the state cares nothing about us and that we can depend only on ourselves.

The current system will stagger on until collapse, but “who then steps into the vacuum? Those who are organized.” When regimes fall, it is not “the loudest voices in parliament that provide answers. It is those who are organized, actively preparing now.” Free Sweden is building parallel structures and communities that will protect Swedes, no matter what happens around them.

“They have the institutions,” Mr. Eriksson concluded, “but we have the truth.” His final message: “Build now!” for it will be those who build who will inherit the future.

Steve Laws, video maker and activist, made his position clear at the very start: “My dream is to see millions and millions of migrants removed from our countries. . . . It is not just illegals and criminals. We want all of them gone. This will mean hardship for them and for us, but our people come first.”

“Some people will tell you that remigration will be entirely voluntary,” he added, “but it won’t be. I’m planting my flag in the sand. This is our land, not theirs. . . . We are not going to be begging for crumbs from the table. We want the whole lot.”

Steve Laws

Mr. Laws argued against starting another party. Instead, nationalists must carve out new positions into which politicians can safely move. “Everyone knows what the problem is,” he said, but “we are the only ones talking about solutions. . . . As soon as the politicians move our way, the public will follow.”

Nationalists used to apologize for asking for their homelands back, but “that’s over.” “We will not be satisfied with just a little bit of remigration; it’s got to be every single one of them.” Many will be reluctant to leave, but “would you rather hurt their feelings or lose your homeland?”

His conclusion: “Nothing is impossible. They came; they can leave. Stand your ground!”

I spoke about how wonderful it was to be in the land of my ancestors. I noted that after the first Taylor went to the colonies in 1635, the family tree that grew from Albion’s seed was almost exclusively English, with only an occasional Dutchman or Huguenot.

I said I am greatly encouraged by how quickly white people — around the world — bounced back from what I see as our race’s historic nadir: May 25, 2020, when George Floyd went to his reward and mass insanity broke out. The election of Donald Trump, Elon Musk’s housecleaning at X, and increasing momentum behind the idea of remigration make me more optimistic than ever.

I confessed that there was a time when I had little hope, that it seemed I was just making a historical record to prove that not all of us were fools and cowards. Now, I have more than hope; I have confidence. “I may not live to see our race secure, fortified against all threats,” I said, “but some of you in this room surely will.”

Jared Taylor

I reminded the audience that for us to prevail, we must win over more wayward brothers and sisters. We must therefore become the best white men and women we can possibly be, to inspire others to become — and think — like us.

I said that wherever I speak — France, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Australia, Estonia — a meeting like this one is like a joyful family reunion. It is because we are all part of the World Brotherhood of Europeans that we know instinctively that we can stand shoulder to shoulder, sure in the knowledge that we are soldier-comrades, dedicated to fighting the greatest threat our race has ever faced.

Mark Collett, leader of Patriotic Alternative, was the final speaker. “We are living in a time of unprecedented acceleration,” he said. “Thousands upon thousands demonstrating against immigration and recognizing that we have two-tier justice, recognizing that there is a racial hierarchy in this country and that they are at the bottom.” This realization flourishes because “millions now dismiss the media.”

Mr. Collett noted that as we celebrate this awakening, we must realize that in some respects, we face the worst conditions ever. Not only does orthodoxy lash out most viciously as it dies, but we are losing the demographic race. “Last year, only 51.2 percent of births were to white British women. This year, white British births may be a minority. The problem is not just immigration.”

Mark Collett

Mr. Collett described what he called the two mistaken schools of thought on how to proceed. “First are those who think we can vote out way out. People have thought that since the 1960s, but electoral success is impossible for ethnonationalists.” The current success of the Reform Party means there is no hope for parties to its right. Our job, therefore, is “to pull politicians and the public our way. We may not gain power, but we can influence those who will.” Mr. Collette noted that he had spent a decade in electoral politics and saw how easy it was for the system to snuff out threats.

“The other foolish idea is race war,” Mr. Collett explained. It’s silly to believe that the system will collapse and somehow a white ethnostate will spring from the ruins. “This is an excuse to do nothing,” he added. “Conflict will get worse as diversity increases, but it won’t become all-out war. South Africa shows that race war doesn’t happen.” Instead, Mr. Collett argued, there will be Balkanization as people naturally separate, and white Britons begin to defend territory: “These forests of flags we see are a sign of the rising ethnic pride of white Britons. They send the message that this is a British place and migrants are not welcome.” Ordinary Britons are doing this as a sure sign of organic white racial awakening.

For now, we must build communities, and nothing terrifies our rulers more than whites defending what is theirs. “We must stand together as one — strong and proud. We must build a place where we can weather the storm, and no one else will do this for us.”

This was an inspiring conference, of which Patriotic Alternative has every reason to be proud. I can expect only that next year’s conference will be even better.
