A massive manhunt is underway for an aboriginal man who allegedly murdered his pregnant ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend and her aunt in a small town in NSW’s Central West.
NSW Police confirmed on Friday they were looking for Julian Ingram, 37, who allegedly shot dead Sophie Isabelle Quinn, 24, John Harris, 32, inside a car in Lake Cargelligo on Thursday afternoon before allegedly killing Nerida Quinn, 50, at a home. Kaleb Macqueen, 19, was also shot but survived.
Ingram, a local council employee also known as Pierpoint, is now wanted on an outstanding warrant for murder, and police described him as being of “aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 165cm-170cm tall, of a medium build with short dark hair and brown eyes”.
“He was last seen driving a Ford Ranger utility with NSW registration DM-07-GZ described as having council signage, a metal tray back, high visibility markings on the side and an emergency light bar on the roof,” police said.
Anyone who sees him is warned not to approach, and call Triple-Zero.
Ingram was granted bail by police in November after allegedly assaulting Quinn, and was required to report to police daily on charges of “stalking or intimidating intending to cause fear or physical harm” and common assault, and had pleaded not guilty, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Telegraph reported.
Police also took out an interim apprehended domestic violence order against Ingram on behalf of Quinn preventing him from approaching or contacting her or going within 100 metres of her home or workplace.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland said Ingram did not have a gun licence.
“Any death in a small country town is confronting,” he said.
“A scene where you have people shot by firearms is obviously going to make people very, very tense and very concerned. The scene faced by the emergency services at that time would have been horrendous.”
Police said specialist police personal were flown in by PolAir and the Defence Force, including Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), negotiators, and Homicide investigators.
