A baby has suffered a horrific finger injury at a Queensland childcare centre, triggering an education department investigation.
The incident, where the top of the 10-month-old infant’s ring finger was severed, is believed to have occurred at the Active Kids Early Learning Laidley 2 Centre in the Lockyer Valley on February 24.
Photos of the injury obtained by the Gatton, Lockyer and Brisbane Valley Star show the top of the child’s finger completely detached.

A Department of Education spokesman confirmed in a statement on Saturday it was aware of the incident.
“Protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of children attending early childhood education and care services is the number one priority of the Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority,” they said.
“The Regulatory Authority is aware of a matter involving a child sustaining a finger injury which required medical attention. As the incident is currently under investigation, no further information can be provided.
“The Regulatory Authority continues to work with the sector to address the safety and quality of early childhood education and care services across Queensland.”
