Gragg’s son had arranged a Facebook Marketplace sale of a watch with the suspect, John Ford, 18, South Bend police said.
According to police, Ford brandished a gun and attempted to grab the watch while meeting Gragg’s son on the front porch.
Police said Gragg then stepped in front of her son and chased Ford from the property.
“At that time, the suspect pointed the handgun toward the porch and fired the gun, striking Gragg before running off,” police alleged.
