King Charles has been heavily criticised over a visit to an “eco-mosque” in Cambridge where he posed for photos with Muslims wearing headscarves.
The images were posted on social media by official account The Royal Family, and were accompanied by snaps of the King touring the New Whittle Laboratory, an aerospace and energy laboratory based at the University of Cambridge which he officially opened on Monday.
The Cambridge Central Mosque opened in April 2019 and cost £24 million to build. Two-thirds of the funding was provided by Turkey, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the inauguration.
“In Cambridge today, The King visited Europe’s first Eco-Mosque. Cambridge Central Mosque is notable for its architectural quality, environmental leadership and role as a place of worship and community engagement,” the post read.
“The sustainability-focussed mosque combines its design, energy-efficient systems and renewable energy generation to significantly reduce carbon emissions.”

But the visit sparked fury on social media, with many Brits raising the issue of the UK’s Muslim rape gangs, which a recent inquiry found have preyed on at least 250,000 White British girls, and others asking “has he converted?”
“Yes, your daughters are getting raped and your sons stabbed, but did you hear the local mosque is now carbon-neutral?” wrote former Belgian MP Dries Van Langenhove.
“The King visits an eco-mosque while still refusing to acknowledge the grooming gang scandals,” said another.
“This mosque was largely paid for by Moslem tyrant Erdogan. It is a stain on Cambridge and our nation as a whole. Shame on the King for endorsing this abomination,” read another popular comment.
“The King should send his grandchildren to school in Rotherham without their security detail for the full diversity experience,” said another, referring to one of the towns at the epicentre of the Pakistani Muslim rape gang crisis.
Others referred to a recent decision by King Charles, who swore an oath at his coronation to defend the Christian faith, to alter his official title from “Defender of the Faith” to “Protector of the Space for Faith within the Multi-faith Nation”.
“The King is supposed to be the Defender of the Faith! Disgusting,” read one comment.
“Shame on you for betraying your oath as defender of the faith,” said another.
Many others said they missed Queen Elizabeth II, and called for Charles in abdicate and make Prince William the King.
