Stockbridge Mayor Jayden Williams, who became Georgia’s youngest mayor after a campaign focused on accountability and transparency, has been temporarily stripped of some official privileges amid an investigation into his alleged spending.
According to the New York Post, the Stockbridge City Council voted 5-0 last Friday to suspend the 22-year-old mayor’s city-issued credit card, limit his access to certain city resources and direct him to return official property, including purchasing cards and access badges.
The move comes just six months after Williams took office.

The city council initiated an investigation after “information” was presented to the city’s finance department and city attorney, though officials have not disclosed details of the allegations.

Williams has said he supports a full investigation and wants the process to remain fair and transparent.

Williams was asked to appear at Stockbridge City Hall by Monday noon to hand over city-issued items but reportedly did not show up. Elton Alexander, the city’s mayor pro tem, said the city could deactivate the cards remotely and ensure they were secured.

Williams became Georgia’s youngest African American mayor and had promised to modernise Stockbridge, a city with a population of about 36,000.
