Asked about the attempts by Donald Tusk’s camp to invalidate the presidential elections, Polish historian Andrzej Nowak told wPolsce24 TV that Karol Nawrocki should be “physically protected.”
“The temperature of hatred, which is built up by people like Roman Giertych, as well as other instruments and tools of this campaign of hatred, which Donald Tusk is conducting with the help of other people, has indeed reached an intensity that I have never experienced in my entire life,” wPolityce quotes him as saying.
Roman Giertych, a right-wing nationalist and founder of the League of Polish Families party, previously served as deputy prime minister and education minister under a PiS-led coalition until its collapse in 2007. He then became an outspoken opponent of Law & Justice and presently serves as a member of the Sejm for the left-liberal Civic Coalition, Tusk’s party.
When asked by Michał Karnowski whether Roman Giertych is taking on the role that Janusz Palikot (former member of Sejm known for controversial publicity stunts) played in the past, Prof. Nowak replied:
“Palikot was an extremely brutal tool of Donald Tusk. Now such a role, but probably even more brutal than Janusz Palikot, is played by Roman Giertych, but he is not the only one,” he replied, adding that he believes Nawrocki needs physical protection.
“What we are dealing with now is a pogrom atmosphere that led to the assassination of President Narutowicz,” he told viewers.
Claiming any vote recount was merely an attempt to destroy Poland, the historian said: “What Donald Tusk’s team is aiming at is not to scrutinize the elections, because the scenario I mentioned earlier is the worst and I hope it doesn’t come true, but the real scenario is to destroy Poland, destroy it through an increasingly deepening division, in which we will not be able to sit down at one table with each other.
“Deep divisions within the Republic of Poland, in a sense of an oligarchic nature, are used, created, and inflated by neighbors in order to dismantle Poland. This is a current conclusion,” Nowak said.
“A Poland divided even more deeply than it is now will be an ineffective Poland on the international stage. And that is what those who create this program are all about,” explained the historian, further claiming that Tusk wants to replace democracy in Poland “with a dictatorship of emotions and hatred.”
