A victim of an attack at the Secondary Industrial School of Chemistry (SPŠCH), a vocational high school in Pardubice, Czech Republic, died from her injuries, the police announced on X last night.

“We are providing crisis intervention to the family and have offered them psychological support,” the police stated.

The police do have the suspected attacker in custody, and an investigation is ongoing.

The incident in question took place earlier yesterday afternoon, on the street in front of the school on Poděbradská Street. According to Echo24, following a conflict between two young people, the emergency services took one person to the hospital in a life-threatening condition. The second person was detained by police.

“The attacked person unfortunately succumbed to her injuries after being taken to the hospital. We are providing crisis intervention to the family and have offered them psychological help,” the police stated.

Czech news outlet iDnes.cz also cited a student source who told them that a young man had stabbed a girl who had broken up with him.

“She was probably in her second year, he was in his fourth year. He allegedly stabbed her quite seriously and threatened people around her,” they said.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš posted on X his condolences: “I am terribly sorry for the young life that this afternoon in Pardubice ended with a mad and incomprehensible act. I am thinking of the family, friends, and all the survivors and express my deepest condolences.”

The governor of the Pardubice region, Martin Netolický (3PK), confirmed that the victim was a student and that security at secondary schools was being addressed. The school will remain closed until Monday, and the principal has also canceled the graduation exams, he added.
