Homosexual paedophile named ‘disability pride champion’ by mistake

A homosexual serial child sex offender was made Victoria’s Disability Pride Champion after the government failed to detect his long history of repeat offending.

Cameron Bloomfield, 40, from the Melbourne suburb of Mentone, was honoured at the Victorian Disability Awards in December 2024 despite having convictions for indecent assault, committing an indecent act with a child under 16 and attempting to solicit sex with a child under 16.

He was then stripped of the award, which is handed out by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to an individual who “honours pride in unique identity and embraces diversity”, in December 2025, ABC News reported.

Bloomfield complied with requirements to submit a police check consent form, but department did not pick up on his criminal past, which included convictions in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2020.

“An administrative error was made by the department during the screening process,” the department said in a statement.

“The department discovered the error in December 2025 and immediately rescinded the award. The department has since reviewed and updated its processes.”

In 2013 Bloomfield was jailed for 27 months for trying to groom four children for sex, and in April was jailed for three months for breaches of his registered sex offender reporting conditions.

He was then released on bail while appealing the severity of his sentence, despite police alleging in court he was an unacceptable risk to the community and could contact his victims, who are fearful of running into him.

In 2023 Bloomfield was invited to testify before a Victorian parliamentary committee on the 2022 Victorian state election as a “disability and LGBTIQ advocate”, and has been interviewed by media outlets including the ABC and far-left antifa-linked radio station 3CR.

Bloomfield, who has a mild intellectual disability, was given the Inclusion Award at the National Awards for Disability Leadership in 2019, and was described as a “self advocate, member and spokesperson” for LGBT group Rainbow Rights and Advocacy, which has since deleted his profile.

He was the MC at the 2025 Pride Event at Inclusive Rainbow Voices, an LGBTIQ disability group where he was a founding member, and participated in the National Disability Research Partnership alongside researchers from Deakin University in 2021.
