Woman, 19, allegedly sexually assaulted by four men in vehicle in Melbourne

Four men have been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of a young woman in a vehicle after she left a venue in Melbourne’s inner city.

Arrests were made during an early morning raid in the multicultural suburb of Glenroy on Tuesday, 3AW’s Madelaine Burke reported, and an image of the scene shows a police vehicle blocking a suburban street.

Victoria Police said the raid was carried out by detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad as part of an investigation into a sexual assault in Melbourne’s CBD last month.

“The arrests follow an incident where a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by four men in a vehicle after leaving a licensed premises in South Yarra around 1.30am on Sunday, 31 May,” police said.

“The men, a 19-year-old from South Morang, a 20-year-old from Wollert and two 20-year-olds from Glenroy, were taken into custody early this morning.”

All four will now be interviewed by detectives, and the investigation remains ongoing.
