Violent left-wing extremist counter-protesters attempted to disrupt a March for Australia rally in Melbourne but were beaten back by patriotic Aussies who took over the city to demand an end to mass immigration.
About 10,000 anti-immigration demonstrators gathered at Flinders Street Station on Sunday as part of a nationwide protest movement that saw close to 100,000 people turn out across Australia.
The Australian flag-waving protesters, who included a large group of black-clad members of nationalist activist group the National Socialist Network, marched through the CBD with a banner saying “stop immigration” and chanted “Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi”.

Far-left counter-protesters and pro-Palestine activists tried to disrupt the rally, but were repelled by anti-immigration demonstrators on multiple occasions, with video from the scene showing one patriot draped in a flag beating off an aggressive leftist agitator.
Another clip shows protesters burning a Palestinian cloth, while other videos show left-wing extremists burning the Australian flag on their side of the police lines, attacking female protesters wearing Australian flags, and spitting on an elderly woman.
Israeli commentator Avi Yemini and his security guards were also involved in a scuffle after being told they were not welcome at the protest by White Australia leader Thomas Sewell, and clashes later erupted at the Kings Domain where anti-Australian aboriginal activists have built a squalid illegal encampment.
Victoria Police said six people were arrested throughout the day and capsicum spray was deployed.

March for Australia protesters then gathered outside Parliament House where organiser Hugo Lennon, Australia Freedom Rally leader Harrison McLean and Mr Sewell all addressed the large crowd.
Mr Lennon congratulated protesters for turning up despite repeated attacks from major party politicians and the corporate media, and said described immigration levels as “an invasion, nothing less”.
“Those traitors in Canberra have ignored us for long enough. They said ‘why don’t you just vote?’ ‘Why don’t you just wait for the next election?’ We tried that, so we are in the street demanding an end to mass immigration,” he said.
“After we march here today, I would like every patriot gathered here to participate in Operation Raise the Flag. We must fly the flag every single day at our homes, at our work and in our community.
“Our brothers in England with their Operation Raise the Colours have been massively successful. We must stand in solidarity with them, we have one struggle, and that is to end mass immigration.”
He then said a second March for Australia rally was planned for Australia Day.

His speech was followed by one by Mr Sewell, who told the crowd they needed to organise if they wanted the government to stop ignoring the majority opinion on immigration.
“Today, we had to prove a point. Today our men stood at the front of the march, and when the Palestinians and the Communists came charging at the Aussie flags, it was our men that fought back,” he said to cheers from the crowd.
“Australia is in a fight for its survival. It might not be bullets and guns and bombs, it may be hearts and minds and information, and everything that we do is for Australia, it’s for our nation. I’m not asking you to agree with me on everything, what I’m asking you to respect is that we need to put fighters at the front.
“Australia is best on all sides by ginormous empires of the third world. We don’t have to hate these people, or set them up as our enemy, but there are 1.4 billion Chinamen, and 1.4 billion Indians, and there are billions of other people in this world, and they all have a nation.
“They all have a home, and if we allow ourselves to be replaced and displaced in this land, if we do not maintain our demographics, if we do not stop immigration, then our death is certain.”
Victorian Opposition leader Brad Battin responded to the Melbourne rally by condemning the patriotic protesters and calling them racist.
“Any person who is protesting in Melbourne, who is there for the reason of saying that we are anti-immigration … they are just racists,” Mr Battin said.
