Police have released images of an Indian man and are appealing for public assistance after a pervert filmed up a woman’s skirt on a Melbourne tram.
Victoria Police Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives said the upskirting incident unfolded on the route 70 tram at Docklands on October 25.
Police have been told a woman in her 40s and a friend boarded the tram just before midnight, and during the ride a passenger noticed a male sitting opposite filming up the woman’s skirt with his mobile phone.
The passenger alerted the woman, her friend confronted the man and forced him to delete the video, and the man got off the tram on Flinders Street, police said on Wednesday.
Investigators have now released a digital image and a photograph of a man they believe could assist with enquiries.
“He is perceived to be Indian in appearance, aged late 30s to early 40s with short black hair, solid build and was wearing a denim jacket with a white sheep skin collar,” police said.
