Melbourne market stall owner allegedly attacked and wig stolen

A female stall owner at Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Markets has allegedly been attacked by a woman who then fled with a black wig.

Melbourne Serious Crime Team detectives are appealing for witnesses to the alleged robbery, which took place at about 10.50am on December 14 last year.

Police allege a man and a woman approached the stall and attempted to multiple wigs, and when the 44-year-old market stall owner tried to stop them the woman allegedly punched her in the face.

The woman then allegedly snatched a black wig and fled the scene on foot along with the man, leaving the market stall owner with minor injuries.

Detectives have released CCTV vision and stills of a man and woman who they believe will assist with their enquiries.

“The woman is described as African in appearance, with a thin build, about 165cm tall, with short, dark hair,” police said.

“She was wearing all black clothing, with black and white sneakers and a ‘Louis Vuitton’ handbag.

“The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a medium build, and about 180cm tall. He was wearing a grey ‘Puma’ jumper, dark pants, blue sneakers, light-coloured cap, pink headphones and carrying a backpack.”
