Turk on trial in Poland accused of raping woman, targeting lone female passengers, and molesting 10-year-old boy

A Turkish citizen accused of raping a woman in a park, targeting women traveling alone on public transport, and molesting a 10-year-old boy has appeared in court in Poland.

The defendant, identified as Husajin A., faces five charges that could result in a life sentence if he is convicted. According to Gazeta Wyborcza, prosecutors allege he traveled from Berlin to Poland and carried out attacks in Poznań and Szczecin.

The newspaper reported that investigators believe he followed a pattern, seeking out lone female passengers on public transportation, cornering them, abusing them, and then fleeing back to Germany.

In Poznań, he is also accused of raping a woman in a park. After later appearing in Szczecin, he allegedly molested a 10-year-old boy.

Victims told investigators that the attacker spoke to them in German, a detail that became central to the case. When questioned by police, the suspect reportedly claimed he only delivered baklava to Turkish restaurants and denied the charges.

Police arrested him after victims provided a description and later identified him from a photograph. Officers then spotted him at a bus stop.

Investigators say around two and a half months passed between the alleged attacks in Poznań and Szczecin, but they have not established exactly where he was during that period.

“It cannot be ruled out that after the acts in Poznań, he left Poland and only returned on the day of the events in Szczecin,” Julia Szozda, spokeswoman for the Szczecin prosecutor’s office, told the newspaper.

The trial is being held behind closed doors after the court agreed to exclude the public, a move supported by both prosecutors and the defendant’s lawyer.
