An African man who tried to sexually assault two women in Melbourne has been chased off by a pack of seven of the victims’ dogs.
Victoria Police are now investigating the attempted sex attack, which took place while the women were walking along Gardiners Creek in Kooyong at about 11.30am on Tuesday.
Detectives have been told an unknown man jumped out of the bushes and put his arms around one of the women, and when she managed to push him away he tried to pull the other towards him.
The women’s dogs then chased the man into a tunnel under the Monash Freeway.
“The man is perceived to be of African appearance wearing a black tracksuit, white socks, slides, grey hooded top and was carrying a large bright blue backpack,” police said.
Video of the incident shared by 3AW’s Jacqui Felgate shows the seven dogs running after the man, and one of the them managed to tear a piece of the attacker’s pants off.
The scrap of clothing is now being forensically examined.
