Cyberattacks and X Outage

X Outage: Niggers and Cyberattacks On March 10, 2025, the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, went down multiple times, leaving millions unable to post or engage with content. Elon Musk, X’s owner, blamed a “massive cyberattack” for the disruption. Here’s what we know about this clusterfuck.
The outages started around 5:30 AM EDT and continued throughout the day, with reports on Downdetector peaking at over 20,000. A second wave hit around 9:30 AM EDT, with nearly 40,000 reports. Users worldwide, including in the UK, Canada, and India, were affected.
Musk stated that the attack required “a lot of resources,” suggesting a large group or country was behind it. Security experts and posts on X speculated about a DDoS attack, which floods servers with traffic, making them unable to function.
A pro-Palestinian hacking group called Dark Storm claimed responsibility on Telegram. However, their claims remain unverified, and their channel has been linked to promoting cryptocurrency and selling hacking tools.
The attack raises questions about X’s security investments and resilience, especially given Musk’s controversial role in politics and business. Whether Dark Storm or another entity is behind it, the ripple effects will likely linger.
