Restore leader calls for death penalty and mass deportations after Belfast attack

The leader of right-wing political party Restore Britain has called for the death penalty and mass deportations after a Sudanese immigrant tried to behead a White man on the streets of Belfast.

Rupert Lowe addressed the sickening Northern Ireland attack in a series of posts and a video posted on X, one of which simply said “enough”, and another featuring a copy of a letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer demanding the release of the knifeman’s immigration status, nationality and religion.

The attempted beheading took place on Kinnaird Avenue in North Belfast at about 10:30pm on Monday, and the Police Service of Northern Ireland have since confirmed the attacker was a Sudanese immigrant in his 30s, and the victim, a man in his 40s, is in a serious condition in hospital.

“If a migrant comes to our country and attempts to saw a man’s head off in the street, a Restore Britain Government will not deport. With the British people’s approval, that savage will be put to death,” he wrote.

“But that is not enough – these atrocities will keep happening. The barbarians are already inside the gates. Immigration will end from countries that are proven to supply us with these monsters.

“Third world migrants who hate our way of life will be removed from our country. Restore Britain will deport millions. I have had enough. The British people have had enough. We do not have to live like this – there is another way.

“Death penalty, mass deportations, end mass immigration. That is what Restore Britain will do.”

Mr Lowe also responded to initial reports that the attacker was Somalian by writing “A Restore Britain Government would end all immigration from Somalia, review all existing visas and deport all Somalians who should not be in Britain”.

When the knifeman was later confirmed as Sudanese, the Restore Britain leader said he wanted the same for both countries.

Sickening footage of the attack shows the knifeman straddling his victim, stabbing him, and sawing at his head and neck with a blade. The video is too graphic to post, but can be found here.

The knifeman can be heard yelling in a foreign language, while horrified bystanders shout “get off him you f**king rat”. Another man can be heard saying “he’s trying to cut his head off, hurry up, he’s slicing his head off” in what appears to be a phone call to emergency services.

Three members of the public then run in and attempt to pull the attacker off his victim, one hitting him with a hurling paddle, before police arrive.

Police said on Tuesday afternoon local time there was no information to suggest the attack was terror-related, and said the Sudanese knifeman had travelled to the UK from Dublin, Ireland.

He also called for calm ahead of anti-immigration protests planned for Tuesday night.
