Two Syrian men are now under arrest for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl at Munich nightclub, with the case reportedly happening in early June.
Two nightclub employees are being lauded for helping catch the perpetrators.
According to police, the woman and the two men met at the club, located in a basement on Arnulfstrasse. A short time later, the Syrian pair allegedly persuaded the teenager to accompany them to an unlocked room on the first floor of the building complex. There, police say, they harassed and raped her despite her putting up a fight.
Afterwards, they fled the scene.
When a friend of the girl alerted the police, a large police operation was launched to track down the two Syrians, however, a club employee played an instrumental role in locating them. She said she saw them while she was walking home from the club, according to BR news outlet.
“We drove there very quickly and were able to arrest the two suspects near the scene of the crime,” the spokesman said.
Police arrested a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old, both Syrian nationals. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage.
Both men are being held in pre-trial detention and investigators are reviewing their mobile phones for evidence.
