A person allegedly fleeing Immigrations Customs and Enforcement agents was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer truck in Florida on Tuesday morning, state authorities said.

The incident took place around 6:42 a.m. in St. Augustine when agents from ICE and Homeland Security Investigations, which operates under ICE, encountered a group of people in a car at a parking lot, a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) spokesperson said in a statement.

Four of the vehicle’s occupants allegedly fled on foot and one of them allegedly “ran across State Road 16 and into the path of the tractor trailer,” FHP said in a statement.
